I’m a mathematician. My research focuses on the connections between homotopy theory, algebra, and geometry. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Some of the problems that I’ve worked on have their origins in certain areas of mathematical physics (e.g. formal deformation quantization and topological field theory.) <\/p>\n\n\n\n

I am also interested in developing tools<\/a> that combine formalization and large language models in order to help accelerate research in pure mathematics, specifically in the areas of homotopical algebra and higher category theory. My research is supported by the National Science Foundation grant DMS-2305407<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

My current academic appointment is: Associate Professor of Mathematics (with tenure) at the University of Nevada, Reno<\/a>. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

My prior appointments include a three year postdoctoral research fellowship at the Mathematics Institute<\/a> of the University of G\u00f6ttingen<\/a>. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

I received my Ph.D. in mathematics from the University of California, Riverside. My thesis was supervised by John Baez<\/a>. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Outside of doing math, I occupy my time with bicycles, cats, hiking, art, and music. My spouse<\/a> is also a professor at UNR in the Department of Theatre and Dance<\/a>.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n<\/div><\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n
